La Boulange de Polk
Everyone loves La Boulange de Polk – all generations (Find the
baby.) And in the French tradition, so do the dogs and pigeons. This
spaniel seems to be fascinated by the painted cartoon boy, but we know
he just wants his master. The green façade is almost as delicious
as the authentic French pastries. When Pascal Rigo opened this boulangerie
(following the success of his Pine St. one), the block was rather quiet.
Coupled with his Petit Robert next door, a little bit of France livened
up the neighborhood. You can almost hear the accordion music. With a
bounce in her step, Monique has joie de vie, and passes it on to her
patrons. I’ll meet you there for a bowl of café au lait
and a chocolate croissant.
