"Blue Shutters, Yellow Wall" pastel 20" x 13" ©2002
This is another in my series of windows. Here we have not only the mysterious dark interior of the window, but also the entrance into an alley of more secrets. Shadows have always intrigued me and here we have one of the light fixture and a lyrical configuration of wires. The thick stone walls of these old houses require that the electrical wiring be placed outside, more linear interest. I was really jazzed while doing this piece, because I had just seen a book about Monet's home in Giverny. It showed his blue and yellow dishes, and decor. I keep a Giclee print of this image in my dining room. With my mother's help, I reupholstered our dining room chairs in a medley of fabrics to match it. As it should be; comme il faut. I also used this image on postcards and my business card; a little gem. |
